The Crooner in Me!

When I was younger so much younger than today….I never realised to embrace the ‘Crooner in Me’. I felt that it was always a rather derogatory expression. Maybe this comes from the fact that Frank Sinatra (probably the most renowned Crooner of all time) stated that his did not consider himself one.. So when I was developing my musical style I always felt inhibited to be the real me - My real voice. I was always trying to copy something else…something more cool perhaps? But after a life of musical searching…

I realised that my voice is my voice and that if I am a Crooner then be at one with the Art of Crooning!

Heres the official definition…..

 croon¦er

[ˈkruːnə]

 NOUN

crooners (plural noun)

a singer, typically a male one, who sings sentimental songs in a soft, low voice.

Crooner is an American epithet given primarily to male singers of jazz standards, mostly from the Great American Songbook, backed by either a full orchestra, a big band or a piano. Originally, it was an ironic term denoting a sentimental singing style made possible by the use of microphones.
