I’ve written bio’s before and they all sound rather boring so I thought a Q & A would be a better way…..

Where are you from?

I’m from North London and grew up in suburbia….rather boring…..but nice.

What were your early influences?

My Dads record collection mainly…. Stevie W, Ray Charles, Billy Joel, Billy Withers, Randy Newman and many more…and of course my mum making me go to piano lessons!

How would describe your style?

My voice is a cross between Randy Newman, Phil Collins and Ray Charles in no particular order and Piano style is slightly Jools Hollands meets Bill Evans. My guitar style is very basic stuff!

What have you done in the past?

I did my first gig at 17 in a local ‘Harvester’ Pub and then started gigging in working mans’ clubs. After College I was in a few Rock and Function bands. Then I worked as solo ‘Pianoman’ in Norway. I then lived in Los Angeles for 3 years where I recorded the debut album ‘I Make the Rules’

What have you been doing recently?

After not being able to renew my Visa to US (that’s a long story....)  I took a few years away from music….. Actually I was a little disillusioned with my journey as a musician. The new technological world was a little overwhelming and music had stopped being fun and inspiring (The reason I became a musician)

So you took a Sabbatical?

Yes…I just stopped banging my head against a brick wall!! It gave me time to come to terms with who I am as a person and artist. I was never going to give up on music entirely. In the first place I never found Music…Music found me! As a kid we never had a piano in our house and whenever I went to my friends houses’ if they had a piano I would try to work melodies out.

How did you do that? (Get back into Music)

I decided to start working as a solo piano / vocalist (no more backing tracks!...well maybe a few) It gave me the opportunity to create original arrangements of classic pop tunes.

I soon realised that I’m a bit of a Crooner (See my post about Gregory Porter’s Popular Voices) This lead onto my new project ‘The Best Kept Secret’  Album… Recorded at the Hat Factory in Luton. I wanted to create a  Jazz inspired live album with not too much production. Using great musicians I've worked with in the past.

The album will be released in 2018……
